Dual technology (Stereo Doppler Microwave + Passive Infrared) volumetric motion sensor specifically designed to protect against intruders climbing up ladders and towers
RANGE : Direction control switch allows for (3) detection modes: Approach (detects only approaching targets), Recede (detects only receding targets) or Both (detects both approaching and receding targets)
RELIABILITY : Dual technology configured so that both technologies must activate simultaneously for an overall sensor alarm. Rugged, weather-proof housing protects against extreme environmental elements
PERFORMANCE : False-alarm-free performance over a wide variety of applications
PIRAMID DIRECTION CONTROL LT is a dual technology volumetric intrusion sensor which integrates a proprietary microwave design (termed Stereo Doppler) and passive infrared. These two complementary technologies must be activated simultaneously to generate an overall sensor alarm.
Advanced signal processing for each of the two technologies provide immunity to randomly moving targets such as vibration, moving vegetation and temperature variations. Special filtering enables exceptional immunity to birds and small animals. PIRAMID sensors offer highly reliable volumetric protection over a wide variety of extreme environmental conditions.

|Operating temperature||-40°F to 158°F (-40°C to +70°C (158°F)|
|Relative humidity||0 to 100%|
|Relay contact capacity||0,1 A / 50 V|
|Housing dimensions (cm)||15.8 cm (L) x 13.3 cm (W) x 9 cm (H)|
|Housing dimensions (inches)||6.5 (L) x 5.25 (W) x 3.5” (H)|
|Cap dimensions (cm)||23.5 cm (L) x 15.2 cm (W) x 10.8 cm (H)|
|Cap dimensions (inches)||9.25 (L) x 6 (W) x 4.25” (H)|
|Factory setting microwave frequency||10.525 GHz International frequencies available|
|Special Discrimination Circuitry||Configured with bird and animal immunity to discriminate against flying birds. Sensitivity Control Switch precisely controls the distance in inches (cm) a target must move to initiate an alarm. This enables the sensor to ignore randomly moving objects and conditions such as vibration, swinging signs and moving vegetation.|
The LT Version of PIRAMID is equipped with a “special housing and mounting bracket” for the sensor to look downward. When mounted in this configuration the Direction Control switch is set to “Approach Only” mode. This will enable detection of targets (intruders) climbing up the structure while ignoring rain and snow moving away from the sensor in the opposite direction.
For ladder mounting, it is recommended that the PIRAMID LT be ordered with one of PROTECH’s Ladder Mounting Brackets PH-6 or PH-6JB. These specially designed brackets reduce installation time and offer maximum flexibility when mounting to both caged and non-caged ladders.
To avoid movement on the ground, the sensor must be carefully aimed and adjusted as follows:
- Aim the sensor downward, perpendicular to the ground
- Adjust sensor’s Sensitivity Control Switch in the lower positions (Positions 1, 2 or 3)
- Adjust the Direction Control Switch in the “Approach Only” mode
The LT Version of PIRAMID will be sluggish in detecting movement on the ground when mounted perpendicular to the ground as it cannot receive a good Doppler signal.
For detection on the ground, aim the PIRAMID LT sensor outward at a slight angle to improve the Doppler signal and adjust the Sensitivity Control Switch in the higher sensitivity settings (10, 9, 8, 7, etc.)
- Stereo Doppler Microwave Sensor: Two receiving channels with the ability to eliminate vibration and periodically moving objects as sources of false alarms.
- Dual Element Infrared Sensor: Ignores normal temperature variations yet is very responsive to rapid infrared changes created by an intruder.
- Microprocessor Controlled: Proprietary integrated circuit design provides enhanced digital signal processing for both microwave and passive infrared technologies.

The high-frequency antenna comprises a 24 GHz frequency transmitter (in K band) and a receiver with Doppler effect which detects signal variations caused by the passage of an object in the zone. To trigger an alarm, both two technologies must detect an intrusion.
